Where is the battleground for believers?

Let's discuss this one together.

My study of this led me to realize that I have to be disciplined and committed to seek out God's Word and find the truth. It is an active "abiding in Him" kind of thing. It's not passive. It's easy in our world with so many books, magazines, websites, etc. to read many good things but not study His Word directly. That's our family's goal is to first and foremost be disciplined to study His Word - that's our defensive and offensive weapon. The cosmic battle is real as the Truth Project relayed and there's no other weapon but the Bible.

I love the Truth Project, and Del got a lot of his information through the Red Books and you can see how well used his 1828 Dictionary is! Anyway...the battleground for believers is in the mind--'be transformed through the renewing of your mind'.

Yes, the battleground is right between my ears!! It is also my flesh against the Spirit. In the end, I can be my own worst enemy! The most difficult battle is "choosing" to do something right versus doing something because it is easy. Usually the easy way does not hold the treasures the more arduous provides. Chauncy A. Goodrich quoted Noah Webster, saying, "children should learn to acquire knowledge by severe effort...He felt that there must necessarily be much of drudgery in the formation of a thoroughly educated mind." This is the battle I have with myself, and it is no different when it comes to the battle my children face within themselves on a daily basis. The teacher being the living texts provides the example our children will follow. As they see us win our battles through severe effort and time in the Word, they will be ensured of their success if they do the same.

"God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7 He has not left us defenseless, and He has also commanded us to be offensive in the battle against evil. We have authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). He also said in Romans 16:20 that "the God of peace will soon crush satan under YOUR feet shortly." (emphasis mine, but I can also hear Jesus emphasizing the point that now it's our turn since He has already defeated the enemy!)

Hebrews 4:12 is awesome in revealing the power we have in His word. This is why we cannot fight this spiritual battle in the flesh, or with our own words. We are not to argue with others, but we are called to use the authority God gave to us through His word. When we use God's words, the enemy cannot contradict, or fight back. God's word is final.

I also went through my topical index and looked up other passages regarding our Spiritual Weapons.
The Name of the Lord
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit
The Blood of the Lamb
The Word of our testimony
Armour of Light
Word of truth
Power of God
Armour of Righteousness
Breastplate of Love

Sometimes we are called to defend our borders and other times we are called to take ground; both of which happen in our own hearts and in our own homes. At all times we must be ready to give a reason for why we believe. This is why we need to be renewing our minds to the Word of God, so that we may speak the word in love and not have to apologize for it! Some of our children are still learning how to wield their swords, which means we must stand behind them and hold up their arms, just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses arms during the battle. (Ex 17:11)
